Note: This is my take on the Banana Punch my mom made for us growing up. She would usually use about 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk instead of the honey I've used here, and it was always one of our favorite homemade treats.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use sweetened condensed milk instead of honey?
Absolutely. That's actually how my mom made Banana Punch for us when we were growing up. Replace the honey with about 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk and adjust the sweetness to your taste.
Why is freshly grated nutmeg better for Banana Punch?
Freshly grated nutmeg has a much brighter aroma and deeper flavor than pre-ground nutmeg. It's one of those small touches that really makes this Banana Punch stand out.
Can I add sea moss, peanut butter, or protein powder?
Yes. Sea moss, smooth peanut butter, and protein powder are all popular additions throughout the Caribbean and can make the drink even more satisfying.
Can I make Banana Punch ahead of time?
Yes. Store it covered in the refrigerator for up to a day. Give it a quick stir or shake before serving, as some natural separation may occur.
Can I freeze ripe bananas for Banana Punch?
Definitely, frozen ripe bananas make the punch even creamier and colder, making them a great option for hot summer days. It also has a sort of smoothie texture when frozen bananas are used. You will require a high-speed blender.
