Peanut Punch For Two.

There’s been a number of requests for a peanut punch recipe, so I caved in today and finally got around to putting one together. My dad who’s one of my go-to people when I’ve never made something before, is wintering in the Caribbean so this recipe cost me a long distance call. And though his recipe calls for using custard, which I didn’t use… you’ll be amazed at how simple, quick and how delicious this drink is. Peanut punch is one of those drinks that we tend to associate with sexual prowess in the Caribbean and it’s said to be good “for the back”… thoughts?

This recipe will yield enough for two people or one greedy person ๐Ÿ™‚ You can always make more by doubling the recipe.

You’ll Need…

8-10 cubes of ice
2 tablespoon peanut butter (smooth or chunky – your choice)
1 cup milk (again your choice – I used 2%)
1 tablespoon condensed milk (Sweetened)

Note: Once you’ve made this basic or traditional peanut punch you can experiment a bit by adding some of these ingredients…
– dash vanilla essence
– ripe banana
– dash nutmeg
– honey
– granola

* If you don’t have condensed milk, you can add sugar or honey as your sweetener or a combination of both.

You’ll need a blender or as I did, a magic bullet. Start by placing the ice in first. This way the condense milk and peanut butter will go on top of it and not settle on the bottom where the blades will not reach.

After the ice I put in the peanut butter, followed by the condense milk and milk. Then blend for about 30-40 seconds until everything breaks down and is incorporated evenly.

You’ll have a delicious, very filling, creamy and frothy drink. Serve immediately to make use of that ice we crushed during blending. Above you’ll notice that I listed some additional ingredients you can use as you become a bit more experimental. I would suggest adding one or two to start and go from there. For a more filling peanut punch, you can add the ripe bananas and/or granola I mentioned above.

My favorite memory of peanut punch other than the tetra packs my mom would have in her parlor, was going to visit my god father on Saturdays at his “chinee” shop in Princess Town, where he had peanut punch in the sort of fountain that had all the freshly made drinks. His fruit punch was also deadly!

    Chris your Peanut punch recipe was right on. I am a Trini and have always love peanut punch but have never really try making it. My wife is Guatemalan and loved it. I added some honey and a dash of Angostura bitters. (My wife suggested adding a little bailey’s Irish cream but next time )

    Chris, I love this punch. I followed your directions the first time and then the 2nd time I added a cap-full of Wray & Nephew Over-proof Rum (What I use when I make Jamaican Rum Punch). GREAT punch to the punch (lol) When I dont want the alcohol, but do want the Rum flavor, I use Rum Extract. GREAT drink Chris!

    Hi Chris

    I do not add any sweeteners. However, I do add oatmeal and a few dashes of Angostura Aromatic bitters.

    And yes my grsnd mother nit having a blender used hot water also.

    My dad used to make it by the jug full.
    Like Keith said though, you have to melt the peanut butter first. My dad used some hot boiled water and then mix everything.
    One of my girls makes it with guiness and carrot juice.
    Tastes amazing.

    Additionally to the peanut butter, i add my van. essence, cinnamon, very ripe banana, linseed, rolled oats and my ice, and condensed milk ofcourse, its usually very thick, its like a meal replacement. There an art in doing everything, if you put in the ingredients in the right order, it will blend well.

    Appreciate your effort, but the recipe did not work well.
    That much ice turns it into a smoothie instead and the peanut butter is very difficult to dissolve when it’s that cold. slushy texture does not allow consistency in the mixture as it literally stop mixing even though the blades are still spinning.
    My suggestion for a better mix… dissolve (mix) the butter and condense milk in a little warm milk then bring in less ice and rest of mike. This will make it a consistent drink not a smoothie.

    I tried this recipe and it came out terrible. There was too much ice and it wasn’t sweet enough and the peanut flavour was mild.

    So i made this again last night for my dad, who is a typical old-school, don't show his feelings type of fellow! Not prone to compliments at all lol…but he loved the peanut punch and was raving about it! He even asked for another one so I made it for him and watched him closely as he downed it in the same rapid succession as the first glass lol…i bet he would've had a 3rd glass if only i hadn't run out of peanut butter…but i can attest, Chris, this recipe is definitely a winner!!     Hi Chris.Greetings. Thanks for the peanut recipe. We are in spring and with summer just around the corner, I think i will need a cool punch for the hot days.       To be honest I'm not familiar with the area that much. It was within the city/town itself.. so if you're coming from San Fernando, pass the main center (junction) of the town and on the left side. A very popular 'chinee" shop. He later went on to build/own "Chicken Roost" in San Fernando, on the side of the library.

    Put a little wheat germ on the top of that peanut punch when its all blended up, I use Krechtner a german brand I believe and its good.

    It sais "sweetend" condensed milk which they sell in all supermarkets in the baking section there's no way you guys can't find it in NYC… that's like saying there are no yellow taxis in NY!!! My husband grew up on this stuff so I decided to make it for him and he said it was just like he remembered but it's better with a bit of Guiness stout for the grown folk! ;D

    Try it with some oat meal and don't forget your dash of bitters and in NYC try any of the veg/fruit stores for the condensed milk, or the grocery stores, it's all over Brooklyn.

    This was great, it's also my grandmother's way of making peanut punch when she used to make it for my dad. Hers was nuttier in taste and just a notch sweeter. I added another spoon of peanut butter (with nuts in it), along with a dash of both of the essence and nutmeg.

    I always preferred this over PHD's version. Try it.

    Leave out the condensed milk replace with heavy cream, use splenda or other artificial sweetener, cinnamon, and bananna

      Splenda and other artificial sweeteners all contain "Aspartame" which is a very dangerous chemical that is man-made. It's known to cause brain tumors, cancers, weight gain and all the bad stuff that non one wants. Google it.

      I've never had any problems accessing condensed milk in NYC, ever! Where are you looking? Try the bigger supermarkets or those types like Trade Fair or C Town, for example.

      I think Mickey Mills of the Mickey Mills & Steels musical group makes the best Peanut Butter Punch I've ever tasted. I used to sing with the group so that's how I learned abou the punch. Happy Early New Year!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

      Check in the baking section at the supermarket or grocery shop where the cake ingredients are shelved…In the Caribbean we use Condensed Milk as ordinary milk but in Europe and North America it is mostly used in baking. So it's around especially where Latinos and Caribbean people populate. All the shops might not stock it but it is available here, especially at your local Jamaican shop. Remember Nestle's is an international company and condensed milk is one of it's most recognizable products. If you ask customer service, do not use the name "Condensed Milk" because that's not how they call it abroad. Ask for "Sweetened Milk" instead.
